We are thrilled to welcome artist Jamie Stephenson back to NIC! Jamie’s work is on display in the Link (2nd floor) through April 27.

Born in Macon, Georgia, Jamie became a third generation barber and has enjoyed cutting men’s hair for nearly 20 years. Jamie’s desire for a new challenge led him to painting abstract art. Much like a haircut, abstract art allows Jamie to express himself with different textures, depth and style.

Painting is a means to express creativity Jamie didn’t realize he had. He enjoys watching a painting develop and using intuition to bring it to completion. Jamie likes trying new techniques and experimenting with different color schemes.

Jamie has participated in several group shows in Lincoln and has artwork in Ampersand Guild in Georgia. He loves being able to make commissioned pieces for individuals by listening to their ideas and keeping their vision as a focal point on their canvas.

Jamie currently lives in Lincoln and recently retired from barbering full time. He enjoys painting and being a stay-at-home dad to his two young daughters, Adilynn and Genevieve Joy. Jamie’s wife, Marilyn, is currently in graduate school pursuing a career in nurse anesthesia. Jamie and his family enjoy the Haymarket Farmer’s Market, the Lincoln Children’s Zoo and the community vibe that Lincoln offers.

This art exhibition is free and open to the public daily from 9:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.
