National Public Health Week is a time to stop and reflect on the incredible impact our public health workforce has on the communities they serve. Together, we help make the world a healthier, stronger, and safer place. Our communities have been through a lot in the past two years, especially our public health personnel. I’m truly honored to be working with such a dedicated and passionate team. Every day, they wake up determined to make a difference and do right by the communities we serve. In conjunction with strong community partners, we are able to impact physical, mental, environmental, and minority health for the better. I may be biased, but I cannot think of a more rewarding career.
Before the pandemic, many were unsure of what public health was. As a health department, we are excited to get back into the communities and share these great programs and initiatives. Aside from COVID-19 response, we have programs for Early Development Network, Women Infants, and Children, Minority Health, Immunizations/Vaccines, substance abuse prevention, Building Healthy Families, Community Health Hubs, disease investigation, emergency preparedness, community health improvement planning, and environmental health. We are happy to be serving such outstanding communities. Happy Public Health Week!
