In February, the BC Emerging Leaders Academy 2022

In February, the BC Emerging Leaders Academy 2022, consisting of 8 leaders representing Petersburg, Albion, Cedar Rapids, and St. Ed, kicked off their experience and have since completed four curriculum sessions. During each session, participants have learned how their talents and strengths can assist them in being effective and confident leaders and use these skills to complete a community project together. These pictures show the academy members delivering a variety of community project proposals at PERCH, in Petersburg.

There were several impactful ideas shared and after much discussion the 2022 EL Academy selected EMT Awareness as their community project. Currently, there is a Nationwide shortage of volunteer EMTs and many of the Boone County communities are feeling the effects of this. The group wants local Boone County Fire & Rescue Departments to be recognized and supported for all they do; through awareness and education, the goal is to assist in the recruitment of more EMTs for our communities.

Throughout the summer, the EL class has continued to work on their community project and plan of execution. The class will present the project to community stakeholders, their employers, families, and the BC Fire and Rescue Departments at the end of September, before graduating from the program.

More updates will be shared throughout September, with the full project announcement to be shared after their presentation and graduation ceremony!

Keep up the great work, 2022 Emerging Leaders Academy!
