Rep. Don Bacon, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Nebraska's 2nd district, shared a series of tweets discussing his engagements with international figures and interns in Washington, D.C.
On December 4, 2024, Rep. Bacon tweeted about welcoming Ms. Yulia Svyrydenko, the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Economy of Ukraine. He expressed admiration for Ukraine’s resilience amidst ongoing challenges: "I’m amazed at Ukraine’s resilience despite Russia’s targeting of cities, power generation, and hospitals."
Later that day, Rep. Bacon announced having Silas Zhang from New Zealand interning in his office for the Fall semester of 2024. Zhang is a third-year student at the University of Canterbury studying Law and Political Science and International Relations: "Great to have Silas Zhang...interning in our office for the 2024 Fall semester."
On December 5, 2024, Rep. Bacon welcomed Col Roman Kostenko, Secretary of the Security Defense Committee of Ukraine's Parliament. Col Kostenko has played a significant role as a paratrooper defending Ukraine against Russian aggression: "He is a paratrooper who has defended Ukraine from Russia’s illegal and barbaric invasion."
