Rep. Don Bacon, a U.S. Congressman representing Nebraska’s 2nd district since 2017, shared several insights through his social media posts on February 4, 2025. The tweets address issues ranging from international trade and national security to immigration and education.

In a post made at 13:49 UTC, Rep. Bacon criticized China as an unreliable trading partner, particularly highlighting the obstacles faced by Nebraska beef producers in accessing Chinese markets. He also expressed concerns about China's practices of technology theft and industry subsidies that allegedly disadvantage American companies. "China is not a good faith trading partner. They frequently block Nebraska beef from entering China for example. More broadly, they steal our technology and subsidize their industries to undercut American owned companies. We’ve not had a level field."

Later at 13:55 UTC, Rep. Bacon highlighted the severe impact of fentanyl on American communities, noting its death toll surpasses that of the Vietnam War over ten years. He emphasized the importance of addressing this issue as a matter of national security."Fentanyl kills approximately 90,000 Americans a year, more than the 58,000 we lost in Vietnam in 10 years of war. This has hurt every community and many families."

At 15:34 UTC, Rep. Bacon shared his experience meeting two DACA students from the University of Nebraska Omaha (UNO). Mariana is pursuing an aviation degree with aspirations to become a pilot while Milvian is set to graduate in nursing. He expressed appreciation for former President Trump's support for DACA agreements and legal pathways for exceptional students attending American universities."I met two UNO DACA students: Mariana, pursuing an aviation degree to become a pilot, and Milvian, graduating in nursing."
