Rep. Don Bacon, who has been serving in the U.S. Congress representing Nebraska's 2nd district since 2017, recently shared a series of tweets concerning Minnesota Governor Tim Walz's military service record. Bacon, born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and currently residing in Papillion, Nebraska, has questioned Walz's past statements regarding his military rank and combat service.

On March 14, 2025, Rep. Don Bacon tweeted about Minnesota Governor Tim Walz visiting his district. He urged constituents to inquire about Walz's military rank at retirement and his actual combat deployment history: "MN Gov Tim Walz is visiting our district. Please ask him what rank did he actually retire at. Also, please ask him when he actually deployed into combat. We know what he has said over the years. He loved the false accolades."

Later that day, Bacon reiterated his accusations against Governor Walz by stating that Walz had misrepresented his military rank and combat service: "Tim Walz lied about what rank he retired at and on his combat service. You come to NE02 you better be prepared to answer."

In another tweet posted on March 14th, Bacon announced an upcoming appearance on KFAB radio where he planned to discuss a spending bill and highlight the visit of "the most liberal Governor in the U.S." to Omaha: "I’ll be on KFAB in 15 minutes. We’ll talk about the spending bill and that the most liberal Governor in the U.S. is coming to Omaha for a visit."
