Born in Momence, Illinois, in 1963 and residing in Papillion, Bacon has been a congressional representative since replacing Brad Ashford in 2017.
On March 22, 2025, Rep. Bacon expressed his enthusiasm for wildlife with a tweet stating "We are eager to see the Sandhills Cranes!"
Following this on March 23, he shared another observation about the cranes with "Sandhill Cranes! Everywhere!" highlighting his continued interest in these birds.
In a shift from nature to geopolitics on March 23, Rep. Bacon commented on international relations with Russia and Ukraine. He noted that "That doesn’t explain why Russia tried to capture Kyiv and why they’re bombing cities every night." He referenced a past agreement from 1994 where "Russia agreed to respect Ukraine’s borders if Ukraine got rid of its nuclear weapons," calling the current situation "a war of aggression and a war of choice."
