Rep. Don Bacon, a U.S. Congressman representing Nebraska's 2nd district, shared a series of tweets on April 4, 2025. The tweets addressed issues ranging from international relations to cybersecurity, and opportunities for young Americans interested in military service.
Bacon's first message was a reminder of past conflicts: "We lost over 600 Americans to Iranian proxy forces during Operation Iraqi Freedom. More than 600 families suffered the loss of a son, daughter, husband, wife, mother, or father. Americans cannot forget what Iran has done, and we should not rest until this regime is out." This statement reflects on the human cost of military conflicts and points to Iran's role during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
In a subsequent post on the same day, Bacon emphasized bipartisan efforts to counter cyber threats: "Yesterday, I met with @RepRoKhanna, Ranking Member of HASC Subcommittee on Cyber, Innovative Technologies & Information Systems, where I serve as Chairman. Together, we pledged to lead bipartisan efforts to protect against cyberattacks—a critical issue transcending party lines." He highlighted the importance of working across party lines to address cyber threats.
Finally, Bacon encouraged high school students to consider military service academies as a future path: "Join my office & the Nebraska delegation for Service Academy Days in Bellevue & Omaha! These events offer HS students info on applying for congressional nominations to military service academies. As a 30-year AF veteran, I encourage all students to explore these opportunities." Advocating for youth engagement in military education, he drew on his own experience as a 30-year Air Force veteran.
