Rep. Don Bacon, currently serving as a U.S. Congressman for Nebraska’s 2nd district, recently shared his views on international and domestic matters via social media. Bacon, who has represented his district since 2017 after succeeding Brad Ashford, expressed his concerns on a range of issues, from international politics to domestic adoption rights.
On April 17, 2025, Rep. Bacon criticized some contemporary leaders' approach to the Ukraine crisis, drawing a historical parallel by stating, “I’m glad General George Washington didn’t say ‘let’s surrender because Great Britain is too powerful and defeating them is unlikely.’ But, that is what some of our leaders are saying to Ukraine, the victim of a Russian invasion. Surrendering to a tyrant is not peace.”
He also commented on the state of China under Xi Jinping after reading a book by the Australian Ambassador Kevin Rudd. Bacon tweeted, “Just finished this book written by Australian Ambassador @MrKRudd. Xi has taken China backwards by giving more control to the Communist Party & by retreating from free market reforms of his predecessors. He wants China to be the #1 power but he created a stagnant economy.”
Additionally, Bacon highlighted his personal experiences with adoption, stating his intent to support policies that ease the adoption process. He shared, “As a father of two adopted children, I have seen firsthand the joy of giving a boy or girl their forever home. I hope to make it easier for others to adopt.”
Don Bacon has been an active voice in Congress and continues to live in Papillion, Nebraska, drawing on his experiences and education to inform his political views and actions.
