Rep. Don Bacon, a current member of the U.S. Congress representing Nebraska’s 2nd District, frequently engages with the public through social media platforms. On a recent date, he made several statements addressing international policy on Crimea, constituent support with federal agencies, and security in political culture.

On April 27, 2025, Bacon commented on the geopolitical implications of recognizing Crimea as Russian territory. He stated, "It is true President Obama and world leaders did very little to oppose Russia’s occupation of Crimea in 2014. That doesn’t mean we should recognize Crimea as Russian territory now. Rewarding an invader just increases their appetite for more aggression." His statement highlights Bacon's stance on maintaining a firm approach regarding territorial integrity and international law.

Later that day, Bacon addressed his constituents regarding support from federal agencies. He expressed, "If you can't get timely answers from a federal agency or feel unfairly treated, our office can help resolve issues and get you info. We can't guarantee a favorable outcome, but we'll strive for a fair response." This reflects his commitment to providing assistance to individuals facing difficulties with governmental processes.

On April 28, 2025, Bacon discussed the importance of integrity in political culture, particularly concerning the handling of classified information. He tweeted, "In our political culture it is more important to win than to stand for what is right. Intentionally putting classified info about imminent combat missions on an unclassified application and where uncleared people will have access is just wrong. Then to be dishonest about it is." Bacon stresses the dangers of prioritizing political gain over ethical and secure practices in government.

Don Bacon, who has been in Congress since 2017 after succeeding Brad Ashford, also served in the military and has an academic background with degrees from Northern Illinois University and the University of Phoenix. Bacon, now 59 years old, was born in Illinois and resides in Papillion.
