Don Bacon, born in 1963 in Momence, Illinois, has served since 2017 and resides in Papillion. He earned degrees from Northern Illinois University and the University of Phoenix, providing a backdrop to his political career.
On April 29, 2025, Bacon expressed his support for youth programs, notably the Future Farmers of America (FFA) and 4-H organizations. He stated, "The Future Farmers of America and the 4-H are great organizations for our youth and strengthen the future of Nebraska’s AG. Our youth need these opportunities to help them develop."
Later that day, Bacon praised actions taken by the Trump Administration in its initial months. He tweeted, "I commend the Trump Administration for tackling these campaign promises in the first 100 days: Restoring energy independence & bringing prices under control Securing our border with 95% drop in illegal crossings Taking decisive action against the Houthis."
Additionally, Bacon congratulated Steve Tamayo, a recipient of the 2025 National Heritage Fellow award from the National Endowment for the Arts, noting his contributions to preserving Lakota culture. Bacon tweeted, "Congrats to @NEAarts 2025 National Heritage Fellow Steve Tamayo! For decades, he has reclaimed & celebrated Lakota culture through his art, teaching vital traditions to students. I was honored to recognize him during Native American Heritage Month in 2019."
