Rep. Don Bacon, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Nebraska’s 2nd district, shared insights on energy and infrastructure through a series of tweets on May 5, 2025. Bacon, who has been in office since 2017 after replacing Brad Ashford, touched upon significant local developments and challenges faced by his constituents.

On May 5, 2025, Rep. Don Bacon noted that "40% of Omaha’s energy comes from wind". He highlighted the importance of ethanol and biofuels to the local economy and mentioned that businesses have already invested substantial amounts due to tax incentives. He emphasized that this situation is expected to remain stable for the foreseeable future.

In another tweet on the same day, Bacon announced that "Our NE02 team helped secure $4.5M in funding to install water infrastructure in the southern part of Sarpy County". He pointed out that while Sarpy is Nebraska's fastest-growing county, growth has been concentrated in its northern region due to limited water resources.

Addressing agricultural issues, Rep. Bacon stated that "Our Midwest farmers were struggling before the tariff war with low commodity prices and high input costs like fertilizers". He expressed concern over market losses caused by tariffs and suggested solutions such as year-round E15 fuel availability, aviation biofuels, and exploring new overseas markets.

Don Bacon was born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and resides in Papillion. A graduate of Northern Illinois University and the University of Phoenix, he has served Nebraska’s 2nd District since 2017.
