Rep. Don Bacon discusses cyber security, celebrates first American pope

Rep. Don Bacon, a U.S. Congressman representing Nebraska’s 2nd district since 2017, has recently shared insights and comments on various matters through his social media platform.

On May 8, 2025, Rep. Bacon participated in the House Armed Services Committee Cyber Subcommittee hearing with Department of Defense officials. He noted the discussion focused on "access to critical parts of the electromagnetic spectrum supporting thousands of military platforms & weapons systems vital to national security." Read more.

Later that day, he congratulated fellow Catholics and citizens on the historic occasion of having the first American Pope. Rep. Bacon expressed his pride and hopes for divine guidance in this new papal leadership: "Congrats to our Catholic friends and fellow citizens. I’m proud we have the very first American Pope." In another tweet posted shortly thereafter, Rep. Bacon made a statement regarding Russian President Vladimir Putin's actions against Ukraine: "Putin deserves lots of free Ukrainian fireworks over Moscow on Victory Day. After all, he’s been bombing Ukrainian cities everyday." Read more.

Don Bacon was born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and currently resides in Papillion. He graduated from Northern Illinois University with a BA and later attended the University of Phoenix.
