Rep. Don Bacon, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Nebraska's 2nd district, shared his views on historical events and international relations through a series of tweets on May 10, 2025.
In one post, Bacon referenced past alliances during World War II, stating "This is the same proud nation that made a secret pact with Hitler and invaded Poland, the Baltics and Finland. Stalin was in bed with Hitler until he was double-crossed." This tweet reflects on historical pacts involving Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union.
Another tweet by Bacon focused on military capabilities following his visit to the 48th Fighter Wing at RAF Lakenheath. He commented on defense technology saying "I visited the 48th Fighter Wing (FW) yesterday in RAF Lakenheath. Though the F-35 has had acquisition problems, it is the best fighter in the world." He further highlighted their role in intercepting threats against Israel: "The 48 WG was deployed to Jordan when Iran fired 330 missiles and weapons at Israel. Our airmen helped shoot down 99% of these."
On diplomatic matters concerning Taiwan, Bacon expressed concern over its treatment by global powers due to pressure from China. He stated "Taiwan is our friend, & we are treating them like second-class people because of the bullying by China." He advocated for elevating Taiwan's diplomatic status: "We want to elevate their diplomatic facilities & their senior diplomatic representative."
Born in Momence, Illinois in 1963 and residing in Papillion, Don Bacon graduated from Northern Illinois University with a BA before continuing his education at the University of Phoenix.
