Rep. Don Bacon, a U.S. Congressman representing Nebraska’s 2nd district since 2017, recently shared his thoughts on various historical and contemporary issues via social media. Bacon, who succeeded Brad Ashford in Congress and was born in Momence, Illinois in 1963, currently resides in Papillion.

On June 6, 2025, Rep. Don Bacon highlighted the importance of the Looking Glass mission's command and control capabilities amidst "rising global threats." "With rising global threats, the Looking Glass mission's command & control capabilities are needed again."

Later that day, he addressed historical events leading up to World War II by stating that many overlook Stalin's secret agreement concerning Poland which would have allowed Russia to control the Baltic states. He emphasized Stalin's role in the war's inception: "Too many forget that Stalin made a secret deal to carve up Poland, and that would give Russia control of the three Baltic countries. Stalin was complicit in the start of WW2."

Finally, Bacon paid tribute to American soldiers on D-Day by honoring their contributions alongside Allied forces during World War II: "Today we honor the brave Americans who, alongside our Allied forces, stormed the beaches of Normandy. Their sacrifice on D-Day changed the course of history."

Don Bacon holds degrees from Northern Illinois University and University of Phoenix.
