Rep. Don Bacon, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Nebraska's 2nd district since 2017, shared a series of tweets on November 28, 2024, reflecting on historical and personal events related to Thanksgiving.

In his first tweet posted at 16:05 UTC, Rep. Bacon provided historical insights into the changing date of Thanksgiving in the United States. He stated that "Thanksgiving's date changed frequently from 1789 to 1941? It was set to the last Thursday in November on October 6, 1941, then changed to the fourth Thursday by the Senate. Roosevelt signed it into law on December 26, 1941!".

Later that day at 17:36 UTC, Rep. Bacon reminisced about his military service with a post about his time commanding the 41st Expeditionary Electronic Combat Squadron. He recounted how "The 41st Expeditionary Electronic Combat Squadron under my command landed in Doha, Qatar 22 years ago today. After we landed, we ate turkey and then raised the tents we’d be sleeping in for the next 7 months." He noted that this unit was among the first deployed for Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Finally, at 20:06 UTC, Rep. Bacon extended holiday greetings with a brief message stating "Happy Thanksgiving from Nebraska Nice."
